When you step through our doorway, we want you to feel that you’re entering a whole new world of surprises, comfort, joy and possibilities. We want you to know that it is a privilege to serve you and to help you plan your visit. We hope that your life will be enriched and enhanced through your wonderful getaway at Olde Square Inn.
What can you expect? A delicious three-course, home-made breakfast is served from 8:30-9:30 in the dining room or the charming side porch in warm weather. You might even hear the clip-clop of a horse and buggy moving down Main Street in the early morning.
Enjoy our large common area; put your feet up, grab a cup of coffee and a snack, and make yourself at home. Look though our DVD library and select a movie to watch when you later escape to your room. You might even choose to relax poolside in the summer or curl up with a book in front of the fireplace when winter keeps you cozy.
Step away from the Inn and you’ll find many things to do in our charming town. Walk down Main Street and discover take-home treasures in the shops or grab something delicious at one of our many great restaurants. Be sure to check out our Fourth Friday events: our Chocolate Walk, Art Fest, Car Show, and Blues, Brews, & Barbecue just to name a few.
We always have great ideas for places to visit and sights to see, and we are just minutes from Highway 283/30. That means you can get to Hershey, Lancaster, Lititz, and the Amish Countryside in no time. With Mount Joy’s gorgeous new Amtrak station only two blocks away, you can even take a quick day trip to Philly!

About the Inn
This three-story brick Colonial Revival home was built in the early 1920 by Howard G. Longenecker, a prominent Mount Joy citizen, who made his money in banking and tobacco. A family home for years, it later was a boarding house for male teachers in the 1950s and 60s before becoming the bed and breakfast it is today.
The building still retains its distinctive architectural features including original doors, thick mouldings and columns, built-in cabinets, and even a butler’s call station in the kitchen. Although you can still see the call buttons in the rooms, the bells are no longer connected to the kitchen, much to the delight of the innkeeper!
Our Assistant Innkeeper
Joan Monson is the other person you may see welcoming guests, serving breakfast, and keeping the Inn in tip-top shape! She enjoys meeting the interesting people who come to stay and is a natural at helping them feel at home.
Joan lives in Lancaster with her husband Roger and is passionate about cooking, gardening, her children and the people she loves. On days she isn’t busy at home or at the Inn, she loves to jump on the train and go to a big city, walking around and taking in the sights. She says it’s pretty simple but a great life!
Friends from teaching together in the classroom, Joan and Nancy go back a lot of years. Nancy knows how fortunate she is to have someone as talented and caring as Joan assisting in every operation at Olde Square Inn.
In its 30+ years as a lodging, Nancy is the third Innkeeper at Olde Square Inn and is fulfilling a long-time dream in becoming its caretaker. Before purchasing the Inn, she had a great career in teaching and for 24 Septembers led fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in a variety of studies, including HomeEc.
She has created a warm and inviting escape where guests can enjoy some much-needed time away. As a long-time Lancaster County resident, Nancy has a wide knowledge of the best things to see and do in the area and is passionate about guiding her visitors in making the most of each stay. Whether that stay includes touring the county, relaxing on the porch, or enjoying dinner at a local restaurant, guests can count on taking home some great memories.
Among its many awards, Olde Square Inn has been voted the #1 Bed and Breakfast in Lancaster County on Trip Advisor and continues to earn 5 Stars for excellent customer service. The Inn has been featured in a variety of local magazines to include the cover story of Inns and B&Bs of Lancaster County, and in LCM, Lancaster County Magazine, the Inn was written up as a great venue for intimate weddings and elopements.
What do Innkeepers do when they’re not busy keeping an Inn? If not in the kitchen trying out new recipes, Nancy will be found spending time with one of the grandkids, sipping a cocktail at Rosie’s, reading through a stack of books, or hanging out with her friends.
Nancy welcomes you to become part of the Olde Square Inn family!
