March 7/8, 14/15, 21/22, 28/29. It’s Free Music Weekends at Grandview Vineyards in Mount Joy. Sit back, enjoy some live entertainment, and share a great bottle of wine or sample a flight. Before you head out there and get too drunk, schedule an appointment at nearby Eastland Alpacas to visit their boutique or to tour the farm.
March 9. Spring ahead! Can you believe it’s Daylight Savings Time AT LAST?! Move your clocks ahead one hour. The minor loss of sleep is totally worth the extra sunshine.
March 9. Not only does Daylight Savings Time start today, but it’s also Charter Day in Pennsylvania! That’s the day a charter was granted to William Penn by King Charles II in 1681, establishing what would be the Keystone States. Pennsylvania celebrates by offering free admission to many of its museums. This year, why not stop in at Landis Valley Village, Ephrata Cloister, or go see the ORIGINAL charter at the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. It’s historical fun.
March 13 through December 31. There’s a catastrophic storm on the way, so grab your animals two-by-to and get in line for the Ark! Sight and Sound theater is bringing its 30th anniversary edition of Noah for ONE season only. If you’ve been to the theater, you know know their productions rival Broadway. If you’ve never been there, put Noah on your bucket list. You’ll be swept away!
March 15 & 16. Ready for a Patrick’s Day celebration? Head on out to McCleary’s Pub in Marietta for some great food and some live music. Everyone’s Irish today! McCleary’s is just an 11-minute drive from accommodation at Olde Square Inn.
March 22 & 23. At American Music Theater you can see the Oak Ridge Boys for their Farewell Tour. If your heart’s ever been on fire for Elvira, the time is now! Giddy up ba-oom papa oom papa mow mow….You know what I mean.
March 31 through April 5. They’re calling it “fresh, funny, and warm,” and they’re not talking about the buffet at Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. (That would be “fresh, hot, and dinner.”) No, they’re talking about the current show on stage, Waitress.” You’re invited to celebrate the power of friendship, family, dreams, and freshly-baked pie. I can pretty much guarantee that pie will one of the happy endings at the dessert bar, right?
March 31 through April 6. It’s Restaurant Week in downtown Lancaster! This is a fun way to sample offerings from both well-known and out-of-the-way, unique restaurants. You secure a ticket and taste your way through an amazing array of deliciousness! I say wear your walking shoes and your stretchy pants.
March through Mid April. Get your ticket for this spring’s Best Kept Secrets Tour in Lancaster County April 3 through 19. Your golden ticket gets you coupons and discounts, gifts, games, refreshments, and a map to all the “secret” places. Tour at your leisure and make as many or as few stops as you like. It’s a lot of fun for $12.
