What I Did On My Pretend Summer Vacation Getaway
Posted by: Nancy Skee
Okay, so it was a little summer getaway, but remember last week when I talked about 5 More Adventures You Can Still Have This Summer? Here's a little photo essay of three of my adventures - I didn't have time for the other two, but loved these!
1. Got to Central Market. The Achenenbach long johns were gone and it was only 11:00! However, there were still a lot of fun stands to visit...even if I didn't get a donut... :(
2. Dined at Accomac Inn. I was treated to a birthday dinner getaway by long-time friend Rod. We were able to eat on the screened-in porch and watch the sun set.
3. Laughed and talked and ate and drank and talked and painted at Crafter Hours. Jackie was the one who elegantly nibbled the bruschetta with one hand while artistically wielding a paintbrush in the other to produce one of the VanGogh sunflowers I was telling you about. The rest of us more or less painted dots. Not showing you. Anyway, we had a blast.
Also got to spend time with granddaughter Taylor when we went for our annual back-to-school mani-pedis. Afterward we had lunch at Tokyo Diner where she had salmon sushi for the first time loved it. The babies were over on another day.
Don't forget that no matter how busy you are, you need to take some time to enjoy everything you are blessed with and to spend some time with the family and friends who grace your life. There will always be much to do, and we can get totally sucked in by all those little and big things that constantly demand our attention. But like my Little Hungarian Mother always says, "Don't hurry, don't worry, and don't forget to smell the flowers."
To my teacher friends out there: Wishing you a peaceful and fruitful school year. Remember to exhale and go home at the end of the day. And to all of you: Have a great and lovely week.
