7 Fun Things to Do in January & February
I can only rest up and do home repairs for so long when I start getting antsy to get out and do something fun. How about you?
What I love about Lancaster County is the choice of activities, restaurants and events. Tuesdays I can visit Roots Market in Manheim, or Central Market on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I can hit up Burning Bridge Antiques, visit Longwood Gardens, grab a cheese steak and a beverage at Twisted Bine. I can go shopping, sample wines, play games, watch a show – and those are just a few!
Whether you live in Lancaster County or are visiting the area, here’s a list of some special events I know you’ll love!
They say that if Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes had a love child, this would be it. It is a “hilarious who-dun-it” where disasters knock down the cast like a row of dominoes. Afterward you can get dinner downtown at my favorite place, the Belvedere. Be sure you make reservations!
Bring a friend or your best self for an evening of charcuterie and fun! Learn the ins and outs of creating a beautiful charcuterie board in this hands-on workshop. All ingredients and foods are included for you to craft and take home a delicious spread for one or two. Check here for more information and to purchase tickets. Limited seating.
It’s a party for adults in a library! Talk out loud, drink alcoholic beverages and listen to music at Elizabethtown’s Public Library’s 15th annual event. There will be samples from area restaurants and food vendors as well as “various beverages” and live music on all three floors. This is a hot event and tickets sell out. Check their website for TWLC tickets.
What’s more fun than Valentine’s Day dinner? A Valentine’s Day Murder Mystery Dinner! Bube’s Brewery is hosting these unique evenings, each complete with a special performance, multi-course dinner, champagne toast, and a long-stemmed rose for the ladies. Make your reservations early! Bube’s is only a 10-minute walk from Olde Square Inn.
If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary to do, this looks like a lot of fun. Decades is a casual restaurant with good food and lots of retro video games. They’re offering a FABULOUS dinner buffet – shrimp cocktail, tenderloin, tortellini carbonara and such – drinks, and unlimited games. Purchase your tickets in advance to secure your 6-9pm or a 7-10pm time slot. Make it an event; accommodations at Olde Square Inn are just 18 minutes away!
This week-long even kicks off on Friday with ice sculptures downtown as well as restaurants and shops open late. Throughout the week at various downtown locations, there will be a chili cook-off, makers market, and photography exhibit to name a few. This is a free event!
Purchase a ticket for this fabulous event and enjoy chocolates and sample wines (over 21 only!) at businesses in downtown Mount Joy. Have lunch or dinner at one of the great restaurants along the way. Tickets available soon; check Main Street Mount Joy on FB or https://mainstreetmountjoy.com.
